Step 1: Select the “Paraphraser” function
On the top horizontal menu, select the option “Paraphraser.”
Step 2: Select the text you want to paraphrase
Use your mouse to highlight the section of text you want to paraphrase. You can select as little or as much text as you want – from a partial phrase to various paragraphs.
Please note, if you select a very large amount of text, the paraphrase function may freeze. If this happens, please select a shorter amount of text and run the function again.
Step 3: Click “Paraphrase”
Once you have selected the text you want to paraphrase, the “Paraphrase” button will become active by turning blue.
Click the “Paraphrase” button to run the function. The length of the text selected to paraphrase will determine how long the analysis will run before providing a result. However, a response is most often given within 10 seconds.
Step 4: Click “Insert Text”
If you are satisfied with the result given by the Paraphraser function, you should then click the “Insert Text” button to replace the highlighted text with the new text.
If you do not want to replace the highlighted text but simply want to insert the paraphrased text into the text-editing area, use your mouse to place the cursor where you want to insert the text. In other words, you should deselect the highlighted text. Once your cursor is in place, click the “Insert Text” button.
Common Questions
If your question is not answered by this article or any other FAQ article, please do not hesitate to contact us at support@writewise.io.
What do I do if the paraphraser is not loading?
Responses from the WriteWise Paraphraser function should usually appear within 10 seconds. However, if you have selected a very large section of text to pharaphrase, you may have to wait a little longer.
If the result of the Paraphraser is not provided within 30 seconds, we recommend refreshing the function and trying again. If the issue persists, please select a shorter section of text to paraphrase. In other words, if you select too much text to paraphrase at once, this may cause the Paraphraser function to freeze.
If the issue persists, try refreshing your browser. Please also be sure to review your internet connection. If these suggestions do not resolve the error, please contact us at support@writewise.io.
I am not satisfied with the results, can I run the analysis again?
Unfortunately, if you run the analysis again for the same portion of text, you will get the same response.
If you are unsatisfied with the response, we recommend that you still insert the text and then use the thousands of Sentence Templates provided by WriteWise to make the text your own.
Finally, we can recommend you try other free tools such as Quillbot – however, the free version is greatly limited in the results provided.
Is paraphrasing plagiarism?
WriteWise does not condone the unethical use of the Paraphraser. This would include using the technology to plagiarize a school paper or assignment that requires original work.
We recommend that you use the Paraphraser function to rewrite general phrases that are common knowledge in the public sphere. If the knowledge is specific to another source, you may use the Paraphraser to provide an initial idea of how to rewrite the sentence, but we do recommend that you properly cite the original source.
